Email configuration for Android devices
Step-by-step Instructions to configure default mail app on Android devices (ex. Android Mobile, Tablet, etc.) for your email.
Applicable to:
To set up your email (ex. info@yourdomain.com) on Android, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Email app
1. Open your email app (usually named Email or Gmail).
2. Tap "Add Account" if you don’t already have an account. configured, or go to Settings > Add Account.
3. Tap Accounts and then select "Add Account".
Step 2: Choose Account Type
1. Select "Personal (IMAP)".
2. Enter your full email address (ex. info@yourdomain.com) and tap "Next".
3. Password: Enter your email password.
Step 3: Enter IMAP Details
1. Enter IMAP Server Settings:
4. Tap "Next" to continue.
Step 4: Enter SMTP Server Settings
1. Fill up the following details:
- 465 for SSL
- 587 for STARTTLS
2. Tap "Next" to proceed.
Step 5: Complete Account Setup
1. Sync Frequency: Select how often you want the app to check for new emails (ex. every 30 minutes).
2. Notification Settings: Enable notifications as preferred.
3. Tap "Next" once you've configured these settings.
Step 6: Name the Account
1. Enter a name for "Account Name" (ex. “Info - Your Company Name”).
2. Enter a name for "Your Name". Enter the name you want recipients to see (ex. Mohammad Yunus).
3. Tap "Next" to complete the setup.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Ensure that the correct ports are used:
- IMAP: Port 993 with SSL/TLS
- SMTP: Port 465 for SSL or 587 for STARTTLS
- IMAP: Port 993 with SSL/TLS
- If you encounter issues, double-check that your email address and password are entered correctly for both incoming and outgoing mail servers.
- Ensure you replaced mail.yourdomain.com with your domain (ex. mail.pixxelon.com).
